Notice of the Chinese visa application requirements

In accordance with the relevant arrangement, starting from March 15, 2023, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Vanuatu will accept visa applications with the following details:

I.Application process and basic documents required

(1) Log on to the China Online Visa Application system(website: https://cova.mfa.gov.cn/) to fill out the application form, print out the application form and the confirmation page, and sign the confirmation page and item 9 of the form.

(2) Log on to the Appointment for Visa Application Submission system (website:https://avas.mfa.gov.cn/) to make an appointment. Print out the visa appointment confirmation form.

(3) Please submit the application to the Chinese Embassy in Vanuatu according to the appointment time with the documents required. An applicant who is between the ages of 14 to 70 years old, should be collect ten fingerprints.

(4) The original passport with at least six months of remaining validity and blank visa pages, and a photocopy of bio-data page of your passport.

(5) Proof of legal stay or residence in Vanuatu (applicable to citizens of other countries residing in Vanuatu).

(6) Original Chinese passport (applicable to those who had Chinese nationality and applied for a visa to China for the first time).

(7) The used Chinese visas in the recent years(applicable to citizens who have been to China )

II. Visa categories and Other documents required

(1) L visa

Objective: For tourism.

Main documents: 

- A reservation of a round-trip flight ticket and hotel. For tourist group visa, please provide an ‘Invitation letter for Tourist Group’ issued by an Authorized Tourism unit.

(2) M visa

Objective: For a necessary business activity

Main documents: 

 - Invitation letter issued by the inviting entity in China. Please specify the contact information and mobile phone number of the person in charge.

(3) F visa

Objective: For a necessary visit, exchange, or non-commercial activity.

Main documents: 

- Invitation letter issued by the inviting entity in China.

(4) Z visa

Objective: For working in China

Main documents: 

- A valid of Notification Letter of Foreigner's Work Permit in the People's Republic of China.

(5) Q1, Q2 visa

Objective: For visiting/reunion with an immediate family member of a Chinese citizen or a holder of a valid China Foreign Permanent Resident ID card. Family members refer to spouse, parents, parents-in-law, children, children’s spouse, siblings, grandparents or grandchildren.

Main documents: 

- Invitation letter from your family members in China.

- Proof of relationship documents between applicants and the inviting individual.

- An ID document of the inviter. If Chinese citizen,

please provide a copy of Chinese ID card. If a holder of a valid China Foreign Permanent Resident ID card, please provide a copy of passport and China Foreign Permanent Resident ID card. 

(6) S1, S2 visa

Objective: - For short-term or long-term visiting an immediate family member of foreigner(s) who is residing in China for work, study, or other purposes. Family members refer to spouse, parents, parents-in-law, children under 18 years old)  

- For a person who needs to come to China for personal matters.

Main documents:

- Invitation letter from your family members in China.

- Proof of relationship documents between applicants and the inviting individual.

- A copy of a passport and a valid Chinese Residence permit of the inviting individual.

- For personal matters, provide the relevant documents of your private affairs as required by the consular officer.

(7) X1, X2 visa

Objective: For long-term or short-term study in China

Main documents for X1 visa:

- Original and Photocopy of Visa application for study in China(JW201/202).

- Original and Photocopy of Admission Notice or Acceptance letter.

Main documents for X2 visa:

- Original and Photocopy of Admission Notice or Acceptance letter.

(8) J1, J2 visa

Objective: For resident foreign journalist of permanent office of a foreign news agency in China(J1 visa) or Foreign journalist visiting China for short-term news coverage(J2 visa).

Main documents:

- For J1 visa, provide the Visa Notification Letter issued by the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and an official letter issued by the media organization where the journalist works.

- For J2 visa, provide the Visa Notification Letter issued by the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China or other authorized units in China and an official letter issued by the media organization where the journalist works.

Remark: Applicants should contact the press section of the Chinese Embassy/Consulate General in advance and complete all relevant procedures properly.

(9) C visa

Objective: For Crew members performing duties on board an international aircraft, an international vessel, or a shipping mission.

Main documents:

- A letter of guarantee issued by a foreign transport company or an invitation letter issued by a relevant entity in China. 

(10) D visa

Objective: For coming to China to take up permanent residence. Main documents:

- The original and photocopy of ‘the Confirmation Form for Foreigners Permanent Residence Status’ issued by the Ministry of Public Security of China.

(11) G visa

Objective: For transit through China

Main documents:

- A connecting flight/bus/boat ticket to a third country or region with a confirmed date.  

(12) R visa

A foreigner of high-level talent and specialists urgently needed by the Chinese government. Those who meet the requirements of the relevant competent authorities of the Chinese government shall submit the corresponding documents with the related requirements.
