Chinese Ambassador to Vanuatu Li Minggang Presents Letter of Credence to Vanuatu President Nikenike Vurobaravu

On 30 August 2022, H.E. Li Minggang, new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Vanuatu, presented his Letter of Credence to H.E. Nikenike Vurobaravu, President of the Republic of Vanuatu in the State House of the Republic of Vanuatu.

Ambassador Li first extended the cordial greetings and best wishes of President Xi Jinping to President Vurobaravu. He said that in the past four decades since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China-Vanuatu relations have enjoyed good development. With enhanced political mutual trust and fruitful cooperation in economy, trade, investment, infrastructure, agriculture, forestry, fishery, science, education, culture and healthcare, China-Vanuatu relations have become a model of mutual respect, solidarity and cooperation between developing countries. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, China and Vanuatu have rendered each other mutual assistance, jointly fought against the pandemic, and safeguarded the health and safety of our people.


Ambassador Li said that he stands ready to work together with the Vanuatu government and the Vanuatu people from all walks of life to take the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries as the strategic guidance, maintain the momentum of exchanges at the highest and other levels, expand practical cooperation in all areas under the Belt and Road framework, jointly implement the Global Development Initiative, so as to push China-Vanuatu relations to a higher level.

President Vurobaravu welcomed Ambassador Li to take up his new post in Vanuatu. He spoke highly of the development of Vanuatu-China relations and the achievements of practical cooperation in various fields over the past 40 years. He thanked China for its long-term support for Vanuatu’s economic and social development, which has brought tangible benefits to the Vanuatu people. Vanuatu attaches great importance to developing its relations with China, firmly supports the one-China principle, and looks forward to intensifying exchanges and cooperation with China in various fields, so as to promote Vanuatu-China comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level.

Ambassador Li Minggang arrived in Vanuatu with his spouse on 17 August 2022. On 29 August, he presented the copy of his Letter of Credence to Mr. Esron Mark Vano, Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and External Trade of Vanuatu.
