Ambassador Li Minggang Pays a Courtesy Call on Vanuatu Caretaker Prime Minister Bob Loughman

On 31 August 2022, Ambassador Li Minggang paid a courtesy call on Hon. Bob Loughman, Caretaker Prime Minister of the Republic of Vanuatu.



Ambassador Li thanked Prime Minister Loughman and his government for their important contribution to the development of China-Vanuatu relations. He said that over the past 40 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vanuatu, political mutual trust between the two countries keeps deepening, high-level exchanges become increasingly close, practical cooperation in various fields has achieved fruitful results, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges remains rich, diverse and colourful. The Chinese side stands ready to continue to strengthen dialogue and exchanges with the Vanuatu side guided the principle of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, jointly tap the potential for cooperation, and promote continuous development of bilateral relations, so as to better benefit the two countries and the two peoples.


Prime Minister Loughman warmly welcomed Ambassador Lis assumption of office, and said that the people of Vanuatu and China have long enjoyed mutual understanding and support. Over the years, China has provided generous support to Vanuatu in economic development, COVID-19 response, infrastructure, etc., to which the Vanuatu side deeply appreciates. Vanuatu firmly supports the one-China principle as the cornerstone of Vanuatus foreign policy. Prime Minister Loughman said he looks forward to working with Ambassador Li to deepen practical cooperation across the board, take Vanuatu-China comprehensive strategic partnership to a higher level, and usher in a new chapter of the friendship between Vanuatu and China.
