Ambassador Li Minggang Pays a Courtesy Call on Vanuatu Caretaker Foreign Minister Marc Ati

On 1 September 2022, Ambassador Li Minggang paid a courtesy call on Hon. Marc Ati, Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and External Trade of the Republic of Vanuatu.


Ambassador Li first extended the cordial greetings of Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Vanuatu Foreign Minister Ati, and thanked Minister Ati for his important contribution to the development of China-Vanuatu relations during his tenure of office. He said that this year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vanuatu. Over the past four decades, political mutual trust has been gradually enhanced, and practical cooperation across the board has borne fruitful outcomes. Just as President Xi Jinping pointed out, China-Vanuatu relations have become a model of mutual respect, solidarity and cooperation between developing countries. At the beginning of June this year, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited Vanuatu, during which both sides reached a series of important consensus. China stands ready to work together with Vanuatu to implement the visits outcomes, continue to enhance political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation and strengthen people-to-people exchanges, so as to solidly promote sound and steady development of China-Vanuatu friendly relations.

Vanuatu Foreign Minister Ati warmly welcomed Ambassador Lito take up his new post in Vanuatu, and expressed heartfelt appreciation to China for its perennial and generous assistance to Vanuatus social-economic development. He said that Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yis visit to Vanuatu on the occasion of the 40th anniversary illustrates the great importance China attaches to Vanuatu-China relations. Vanuatu firmly abides by the one-China policy, and is willing to boost strategic synergy between the two countries, strengthen communication and coordination on international and regional affairs, and together build a closer comprehensive strategic partnership with China.
