On 26 October, Ambassador Li Minggang met with President of the Malvatumauri National Council of Chiefs Willie Plasua.
Ambassador Li first conveyed the cordial greetings from State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and said that during State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s visit to Vanuatu in June this year, President Plasua held a grand traditional Melanesian ceremony to welcome the Chinese government delegation, which reflected the deep friendship between the two peoples. China and Vanuatu are good neighbors, good brothers and good partners in the Pacific family. At present, the Communist Party of China (CPC) is uniting and leading the Chinese people to build a beautiful and modern country, and China is also willing to help Vanuatu achieve development. The Chinese Embassy is willing to strengthen cooperation with the Malvatumauri National Council of Chiefs and build a bridge of friendship between the two peoples.
President Plasua expressed his pleasure to participate in the reception of the distinguished Chinese guests, and asked Ambassador Li to convey his best wishes to State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi. He said that Vanuatu-China friendship has a long history. Like family members, China selflessly helped Vanuatu to build much-needed infrastructure and dispatched medical teams to benefit the local people. These acts of kindness will be deeply cherished in our hearts. I wish the friendly Chinese people build a beautiful homeland and enjoy a good life under the CPC's leadership. The Malvatumauri National Council of Chiefs will continue to strengthen people-to-people exchanges between the two countries and promote understanding between the two peoples.
