Ambassador Li Minggang Meets with Vanuatu’s Foreign Minister Jotham Napat

On 6 March, Chinese Ambassador to VanuatuLi Minggang met with Vanuatus Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and External Trade Jotham Napat.


Ambassador Li forwarded the message of condolences sent by Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang to Minister Napat regarding the severe cyclone disaster in Vanuatu. Ambassador Li said that China and Vanuatu are good friends, good partners, and good brothers who watch out for each other and share weal and woe. China is willing to provide assistance to Vanuatu to the best of its ability. Currently, the Chinese embassy has raised a batch of iron roofing, solar lamps, rice, and other disaster relief materials to help the families affected. The embassy staff have also donated cash spontaneously to assist in the relief efforts. China will continue to provide all kinds of humanitarian assistance according to the needs of Vanuatu. We believe that with the joint efforts of all sectors in Vanuatu, the government and people will overcome difficulties and resume work and normal life as soon as possible.

Minister Napat thanked Minister Qin Gang for the condolences message and the selfless assistance provided by China. He said that the cyclone disaster has caused great losses to the people of Vanuatu, and the relief materials from China were like timely rain that showed the deep friendship between the two governments and peoples. Vanuatu will assign personnel as soon as possible to distribute the relief materials to the families affected and provide China with a list of follow-up relief materials needed based on the actual situation. With the strong support of the international community including China, the people of Vanuatu will soon rebuild their beautiful homes.
