On December 23, 2024, Chinese Ambassador to Vanuatu, Li Minggang, and his spouse visited the Mele Village community in Port Vila to extend their condolences to those affected by the earthquake. The strong quake triggered landslides, causing difficulties in accessing clean water and a shortage of food for the community. The Chinese Embassy, together with Sino-Van Fisheries Ltd, donated 1 ton of tuna meat and 100 boxes of clean water to help the villagers overcome these challenges.
