From May 24 to 27, 2025, at the invitation of Chinese government, Vanuatu Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Hon. Johnny Koanapo led a delegation to Sichuan and participated in the 20th Western China International Fair. Hon. Koanapo delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the fair and, together with his delegation, toured the exhibition hall to gain a deeper understanding of regional development and cooperation opportunities. The Minister of Tourism, Trade and Commerce Hon. Samson Samsen and MP Hon. Robson Iavro, accompanied the delegation.

The delegation also visited Dujiangyan Irrigation System, explored the Sanxingdui Museum, and conducted site visits to the Chengdu High-Tech Institute for Disaster Reduction and several new energy enterprises.

These site visits and meaningful exchanges have significantly enhanced mutual understanding and trust, laying a strong foundation for enhanced collaboration between China and Vanuatu in fields including agriculture, disaster prevention and relief, tourism, and clean energy.
