On July 21, 2025, Chinese Ambassador to Vanuatu Li Minggang attended the handover ceremony of the Joint Marine Observation Station Project Phase II, aided by China. Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Affairs Hon. Norris Kalmet, Director General of the Ministry of Climate Change Gibson, Counsellor Chen Zongwei of the Chinese Embassy in Vanuatu, and Deputy Director of National Ocean Technology Center Sui Jun also attended the event.

Ambassador Li reviewed China-Vanuatu cooperation in the field of ocean affairs and addressing climate change. 

The Vanuatu side expressed appreciation for China’s longstanding support to its ocean development efforts and climate change adaptation, and looked forward to further strengthening bilateral cooperation in the relevant areas.
