From 12 to 16 October 2026, the second round of negotiations on the China–Vanuatu Enhanced Economic Partnership Agreement took place in Beijing. The Chinese and Vanuatu delegations held in-depth consultations on areas such as trade in goods, rules of origin, trade in services, intellectual property rights and practical cooperation, and made substantial progress.

In November 2025, the Ministry of Commerce of China and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and External Trade of Vanuatu signed the Framework Agreement on Enhanced Economic Partnership and launched negotiations on specific issues.
