On July 25, 2025, the Chinese Embassy in Vanuatu held the Vanuatu preliminary round of the “China Through My Lens” video competition, alongside the pre-departure briefing for Chinese government scholarship winners from Vanuatu. Chinese Ambassador to Vanuatu Li Minggang and Vanuatu Minister of Education Simil Johnson attended the event and delivered remarks. Director of Department of Foreign Affairs Yvon Basil, Director of Education John Kaltau, Vice-Chancellor of National University of Vanuatu Jean-Pierre Nirua, competition participants and scholarship winners over 60 people took part in the event.

Ambassador Li extended congratulations to the winners of the video competition and the Chinese Government Scholarship. He noted the competition has enabled more people in Vanuatu to see and understand China and encouraged the scholarship winner to study hard and contribute to the development of Vanuatu.

Minister of Education Simil Johnson expressed appreciation for China’s valuable support to Vanuatu’s education, and looked forward to further deepening cooperation with China to open a new chapter in educational collaboration.

Participants shared their China stories through the lens, and the graduates who had studied in China shared their experiences. The event was filled with warm and enthusiastic exchanges. VBTC and Daily Post broadcast the event.
