On 20 March 2026, Chinese Ambassador Li Minggang and Vanuatu’s Minister of Health John Still Tari Qetu signed the Exchange of Notes Regarding the Amendment of Relevant Provisions of the Protocol in Dispatching China Medical Team to Work in Vanuatu.
Ambassador Li noted that China has been sending medical teams to Vanuatu since the 1980s. This year, two additional team members will be deployed to further enhance the capacity to serve the Vanuatu people and deepen bilateral cooperation in the field of healthcare.
On behalf of the Government and people of Vanuatu, Minister Qetu expressed his sincere gratitude to China for its continued dispatch of medical teams to Vanuatu. He noted that China medical teams have made a tremendous contribution to Vanuatu’s public health sector, serving as a valuable resource that the people of Vanuatu can trust and rely upon, as well as a symbol of the long-standing friendship between Vanuatu and China.
