On April 2, 2026, Unveiling Ceremony of Vegetable Production Demonstration Base in Port Vila and the Awarding Ceremony for Jiangsu Government Scholarship was successfully held in Vanuatu. Secretary-General of CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee Chu Yonghong, Chinese Ambassador to Vanuatu Li Minggang, Minister of Land and Natural Resources Rick Mahe, MP Jesse Luo, DGs and director from relevant ministries and scholarship recipients attended the event, with over 50 participants in total.

Mr. Chu Yonghong noted that China and Vanuatu enjoy a long-standing traditional friendship and a solid foundation for cooperation. As an important window of China’s opening-up, Jiangsu Province attaches great importance to practical cooperation with Vanuatu. Jiangsu will continue to deepen cooperation with Vanuatu in modern agriculture, innovation, and capacity building, so as to elevate bilateral relations to a new level.
Ambassador Li Minggang stated that Jiangsu, as a major economic powerhouse, a leader in science and technology, and a frontier of opening-up, is playing an increasingly important role in China–Vanuatu relations. In recent years, Jiangsu and Vanuatu have achieved fruitful results in high-level exchanges, agriculture, education, infrastructure development, police and law enforcement cooperation, and sister-city partnerships. He expressed the expectation that bilateral cooperation will continue to make new progress in the future.
Hon. Minister Mahe stated that practical cooperation between China and Vanuatu plays an important role in bilateral relations. Assistance provided by Jiangsu Province in areas such as agriculture, education, and policing has brought tangible benefits to the people of Vanuatu. He also encouraged the Ni-Vanuatu students who will study in Jiangsu to cherish the opportunity, achieve academic success, and return to serve national development.


Dignitaries present witnessed the unveiling of the vegetable production demonstration base, and four Vanuatu students received certificates for the “Study in Jiangsu” government scholarship. The event also exhibited the achievements of the vegetable production demonstration base, along with intangible cultural heritage items such as Jiangsu Yunjin brocade.
