Ambassador Li Minggang Meets with Sylvain Kalsakau the Ambassador of the Republic of Vanuatu to Switzerland and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Vanuatu to the United Nations in Geneva

On 7 May 2026,Ambassador of China to Vanuatu, H.E. Li Minggangmet with H.E. Sylvain Kalsakau, the Ambassador of the Republic of Vanuatu to Switzerlandand Permanent Representative of the Republic of Vanuatu to the United Nations in Geneva. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening China-Vanuatu cooperation in multilateral affairs.

Ambassador Li stated that China and Vanuatu have long supported and closely coordinated with each other on multilateral platforms, jointly safeguarding the common interests of developing countries. He expressed the hope thatH.E. Kalsakau would continue to strengthen communication and coordination with the Chinese side in such fields as human rights and healthso as to better uphold the legitimate rights and interests of the Global South.

H.E. Kalsakau stated that developing countries should strengthen solidarity and cooperationunder the current international situation, uphold multilateralism, and jointly safeguard international fairness and justice. He reaffirmed that Vanuatu will continue to firmly adhere to the one-China principle and support China’s just position in multilateral affairs.
