On June 5, 2026, the inauguration ceremony of the Laparoscopic Surgery Training Center and the Traditional Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture) Center was held at Vanuatu National Hospital. Chinese Ambassador Li Minggang, Ms. Sereana Natuman, Director of Curative & Hospital Services,Mr. Robert Vocor, Acting Superintendent, members of China Medical Team, and doctors from Vanuatu National Hospital attended the event.

In his remarks, Mr. Robert highly commended China Medical Team for its long-standing contributions to the development of Vanuatu’s healthcare sector and expressed gratitude to Chinese government for its continued support in medical and healthcare service.

Ambassador Li stated that medical and health cooperation is one of the most important part of bilateral practical cooperation between China and Vanuatu. He hoped that the establishment of the two sub-centers would serve as an opportunity to further deepen cooperation in medical technology, capacity building, and public health, and to develop China Medical center into an important platform for bilateral medical cooperation and benefits Vanuatu people.

Ambassador Li and Ms. Sereana Natuman then jointly unveiled the two centers.
