On August 14, 2026, the Chinese Embassy in Vanuatu held a handover ceremony at Independence Park in Port Vila, to hand over four drones donated to the Vanuatu Correctional Services of the Ministry of Justice, Youth and Community Services. The Chinese Police Expert Team also provided drone operation training to more than 10 judicial officers from the Corrections Department in Port Vila, Santo Island and Tanna Island. The Director of the Correctional Services and several officials from the Department attended the ceremony.

Mr. Johnny Marango, Director of Vanuatu Correctional Services expressed heartfelt gratitude for China’s longstanding and sincere support to its prison administration. The provision of drones and associated training fully demonstrates the profound friendship between the two countries. Vanuatu Correctional Services looks forward to working with China to further expand cooperation in the judicial field.
