On May 27, 2026, the 25th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students and the 19th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students in Vanuatu were successfully held at USP Emalus Campus. Counsellor Gu Zihua, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Chinese Embassy in Vanuatu, attended the event and delivered remarks. Nearly 100 participants, including teachers and students from the USP Emalus Campus, Vila Central School, Vila East School, and Vanuatu Efate International School, as well as representatives of Chinese institutions in Vanuatu, attended the event.

In his remarks, Counsellor Gu noted that learning Chinese has become increasingly popular in Vanuatu in recent years, and more Vanuatu students choose to study in China. He encouraged young people to learn Chinese and use the Chinese language as a bridge to deepen mutual understanding between the peoples of China and Vanuatu and promote cultural exchanges and mutual learning between the two countries.

Contestants took part in quiz sessions, themed speeches, and talent performances, creating a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere throughout the event. Champions of the Vanuatu rounds will travel to China in July to represent Vanuatu at the global finals of the “Chinese Bridge” competitions.
